πŸ—³οΈ STEM SIG Committee Elections 2026: Call for Nominations

We invite nominations for committee roles to be confirmed at the STEM SIG Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March 2026.

Serving on the SIG committee is a great way to contribute to the EAP community, shape conversations around STEM and academic communication, and collaborate with colleagues across institutions and contexts.

The following roles are open for election:

  • Convenor β€” Term: 3 years (renewable once)
  • Secretary β€” Term: 2 years (renewable once)
  • Treasurer β€” Term: 2 years (renewable once)
  • Events Coordinator β€” Term: 2 years (renewable once)
  • Social Media Coordinator β€” Term: 2 years (renewable once)

All nominees must be members of BALEAP (individual or institutional).

Brief descriptions of each role are available on the Home > Constitution section of this website.

To stand for a role, nominees should:

  1. Identify a Proposer (SIG member and BALEAP member)
  2. Identify a Seconder (SIG member)
  3. Prepare a short personal statement (max. 150 words) outlining:
    • their interest in the role, and
    • how they would contribute to the work of the SIG

Nominations should be sent by email to stem@baleap.org, copying in the proposer and seconder.

  • Call for nominations: Wednesday 7 January 2026
  • Nominations close: Wednesday 21 January 2026
  • Circulation of nominees / e-ballot (if required): from Tuesday 27 January 2026
  • AGM & confirmation of roles: Tuesday 3 March 2026

If more than one nomination is received for a role, an electronic vote will be held.

If only one eligible nomination is received, the nominee will be confirmed without a vote at the AGM.

If no nominations are received for a role, the committee will ensure continuity in line with the SIG constitution.

If you’d like to ask questions about a role, or have an informal conversation before deciding whether to stand, you’re very welcome to contact any of us on the committee.

πŸ™ We warmly encourage colleagues at all career stages to consider getting involved.
